I am sure that a lot of people will laugh at me for bringing up this tandem. I know that this tandem will never happen and will never win in the 2010 presidential election. So you ask, why bring up the issue then.
I believe that in terms of experience and political will, this 2 gentleman politicians pretty much possesses both qualities . Senator Gordon had always been a good public servant. From the time he was the Mayor of Olongapo , the SBMA chairman , Tourism secretary and now a senator. He always performed above peoples expectations. Olongapo remains progressive even after U.S bases was removed. Subic bay became a investment mecca in Southeast Asia.
Bayani Fernando- I admire the guy. He has the political will to advance whatever is necessary to improve the lives of every Filipinos. We never had anybody that has the guts to clean up Manila with squatters. Other politicians are scared because they know that this squatters are also voters and they need votes so they can continue to cling on their respective posts. Manila became a lot cleaner and more orderly since Bayani Fernando became the MMDA chairman.
These 2 politicians is what the Philippines needed. HOwever, since I don't think they have any chance of winning, I will vote on somebody else that I thinks is closest these 2 gentlemans credentials.
Why vote for someone else? If you really believe the gordon-fernando team is what the country needs, why be dissuaded from voting for them? Just think, what if everyone who thinks they are the ones to really do the job will refrain from voting for them just because they think they will not win? What if the number would have been enough to get them elected if only these people went ahead and voted for them? Wouldn't it be better if you go ahead and vote for them if you really believe in them, no matter what the results will turn out to be? AT least you would be able to say to yourself that you voted for your choice.

Why vote for someone else? Kaya hindi umuunlad ang pinas ay dahil sa ganyang pag-iisip.
Ano naman ngayon kung hindi sila manalo? Kapag ba bumoto ka sa iba at yun ang nanalo may reward ka ba? Wala naman diba? Mostly maiiyak ka pa kasi hindi nangyayari pinangako nila.
Vote for bayani/gordon if you really believe them. Wag ganyang perspective. Panget yan.
I for one do not laugh at this tandem, in fact this is what I have been dreaming for since the start of this election fever. This country needs discipline, self sacrifice and a sense of duty from all of its citizen. In the past I have voted for candidates out of principle. All but one lost. Now that Gordon - Bayani tandem or Vice Versa has materialized, I believe that these 2 gentlemen are the most qualified for the top 2 national positions of this country. We always say that we want new blood and not the traditional politicians but if you run for public office don't you become one? Politics is not bad, it is part of our way of life. The main issue is how you run the government ,protect the freedoms and the rights given to every filipino by the constitution and improve their lot. Platforms can be concocted, promises can be given left and right but past experiences and performance cannot be undone. You have two outstanding former local chief executives whose performances are their greatest platform. Perhaps the reason why they do not have the support of most politicians is that these people have their own agenda by promoting their own self interests and do not think on the same level compared to these two ( you know what I am saying? ).
ReplyDeleteHave you been to Subic? A lot of people think that place will just rot as the years will pass but it is still there people still come and enjoy the place why? I think it is because of proper planning and management and who do you think initiated that? Ask a lot of people if they have not benefited from the help of the Philippine Red Cross? Who do you think is deeply involved there? GORDON!!!! Ten years ago traffic was hell already in Metro Manila? Do you think it would have been catastrophic if not one man with political will build a lot of walkways and cleaned up the sidewalks and cleared the streets. I have seen one relocation site in Marikina with a 2 story minimart a sari sari store and concrete roads the next step is probably build a school this is what Bayani prioritizes and a lot of people do not know that, so life is not hell for those who were affected by the so called "demolition man". Drive along C5, I for one use to laugh out at the elevated u turn slots before until the time that they were built the flow of traffic improved except for some periods wherein the streets are clogged with the antismoke belching thugs of one mayor who thinks that by clogging them with these people and apprehended cars would not add to the air pollution control that he preaches but that is another story. I maybe saying too much but i just want to point out examples of what these two can do.
GORDON and BAYANI may have their own pitfalls, nobody is perfect even in character. The problem with us is that we vote and we complain later. We need role models for self discipline and public order. Politicians with integrity and vision are admired but those who come up with short term and long term solutions to our problems will leave a legacy imprinted in the history of our nation. Politics is not a beauty contest, soap opera, a sporting event and wowowee. It is our future. We still have six months to go and things can change but for now I am rooting for these two. It has been said repeatedly said that if we want change, yes we can, by one simple act: VOTE WISELY. I just hope and pray that when they win they will serve the whole nation not Olongapo and Marikina only. On the lighter side, appoint Miriam Santiago as Ombudsman.

ReplyDeleteIt has indeed materialized, and for whatever reason GORDON-BAYANI tandem is what our country needs, this is my dream team! and i will support them 100%, im tired of a country run by leaders with just words but no actions.. i am sorry to say that noynoy doesnt imbibe the energy of a transformer, his parents might be one of the good people who devoted their lives, time and effort for our country but it doesnt mean that noynoy will be the same. i still go for the candidate who has an excellent track record. we need somebody who can implement change, noynoy for me is too weak for that. leadership goes naturally with gordon-bayani, they are very straightforward.. noynoy was asked before of his platform and he answered, "i still have to speak with my advisors" -- a man of action doesnt have to consult anybody for plans, he needs to have the heart and the mind to decide for our country, and what noynoy exemplified doesnt show leadership. But tell you what, if you and I convinced our relatives, neighbors, friends or our whole town that these two people are the people we need to alleviate our standard of living, it could create a chain reaction and might increase their chances. A great number of our people are tired of politician's promises and now that we have candidates who had achievements to proved their worth, I believed that we should do our share in promoting them. This will be our little way of helping our country. I must agree that a great number of our countrymen are illiterate when it comes to selecting the best candidate. It is my hope that the better minded Filipinos will help show to the others the advantages and disadvantages of electing so and so candidates.

WHY VOTE FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T PROVEN YET? Yes, those who do well in the surveys said they are the CHANGE we Filipinos aspire for a very long time, but we cannot risk our vote to such promise. One vote counts, there are other people who believes in the Gordon-Bayani or vice-versa. I for one have seen what they have done in their respective provinces before and still even if a lot of politicians and other citizen don't understand their ways (maybe because of their own benefits) the way they handled it was with utmost dedication to really serve their constituents. That should be the real motive of any politician, the willingness to serve his countrymen and not the other way around.

ReplyDeleteFor the past 2 months Gordon's ratings hasn't shown any improvements at all. I'm pro-Gordon and Fernando don't get me wrong but with the recent advance of manny Villars ratings I'm wondering if I vote for somebody that is lesser evil so at least we won't have a corrupt or potentially corrupt presidentiable like Erap and Villar running the country. If I vote for Noynoy Aquino who I agree doesn't have the experience but we all know is not a corrupt politician, my vote might save our country from Erap and Villar. It's sad that although Gordon and Bayani has the most experience and best qualified candidate majority of Filipinos doesn't think so.

I've met so many people and most of them said that they will vote for Gordon-Bayani. Let's not be affected by survey ratings. It just represents 1200 respondents out of over 49 million actual registered voter. Sad thing about Pinoy is they vote on someone that they think they could gain from and not for the good of all. I hope that all of us would think the other 1. Let's convince our families, friends, office-mates, relatives, neighbors, everyone to vote for them. I believe the hope of our country relies on their shoulder.

ReplyDeleteThe Philippine Government is already too overrun with self-serving blood-sucking politicians who are backed up by the money of rich plutocratic magnates and votes won with half-lies and deceit.
Problem with most politicians in this country is that they talk high so much, show off so much, yet achieve so little.
We should vote based on serious political track record and not for some other sentimental showcase involving "family ties" and "showmanship".
Problem with most Filipinos is that most do not bother to read the track record and instead keep their eyes glued to the TV sets and cinema screens.
Everyone should do their part to campaign for GORDON-BAYANI,Because I feel they are the most qualified to be our next leaders. I have been dreaming about this tandem as well ever since GMA got elected again -_-, I just want to see what our country will look like in the hands on this two men. Eventhough they dont have the machineries /organization to push though with their noble intentions coupled by their unpopularity on surveys these don't correspond for them not winning the elections.

I have lived in Marikina since 1980 and I have seen how Bayani transformed our municipality, and later how he cleaned up Metro Manila, a tasked previous MMDA chairmen have not succeeded in doing. I believe this tandem will truly change the country.

ReplyDeleteIt's a long shot but hey we have all realized that Philippines is in need of dire change. Of all the candidates out there, I know that these guys are the ones who are capable to drive the change which our nation needs.
If everyones thinks this way then that means that the probability of them getting elected will be higher.
And I won't stop my support just by leaving a comment in this blog nor by voting for them on May. I'll talk to my family, friends, neighbors, pati na dun sa mama at ale sa kalye and campaign for them. I hope this gets through the masses which they seemed to be unpopular.

Goodness, what is she thinking of? Ano pa ba ang kelangang gawin ni Gordon para mapabilib ko siya na bomoto? Nakakaiyak, pati mga educated minsan, eh,showbiz ang utak din pala. Maraming salamat sa Diyos at madami rin pala ang naniniwala sa KAKAYAHAN ng tandem na ito. Four months ago, I was for Noynoy, then I had to shake my brain if I was choosing the BEST...three months later, I shifted to Villar. But he strikes me as malambot, so I ralized, with the kind of Flipinos na alang disipline and caring less for a clean surrounding now, makakaya kaya niya? Kaya nag-isip ulit ako. Sometime later, naisip ko ayoko nang bomoto dahil baka mabibigyan ko lang ng lot ang mga corrupt officials na naiuupo (ulit). Pero nung nagbasa ako ng mga profiles ng presidentiables, oo nga--I am reminded of Gordon!

as with so many people i've talked to, we share everybody's sentiments here about Gordon/Bayani being the best choice. And that's what's interesting to note: i use the superlative EVERYBODY because i have yet to encounter ANYBODY with an INTELLIGENT argument why these two should NOT win the elections; all the other candidates have their own skeletons both exposed and categorically denied; but NONE for these two that would hinder their credibility and capability to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteSeeing how people are still swayed by surveys showing popularity or a candidate's chances of winning, i believe we now have a tool that the traditional politician has yet to TRULY account for: The Internet. Surveys can be manipulated to show specific results or create specific impressions; very little can be done to contest these numbers. However, word of mouth traveling at the speed of thought through the internet can help level the playing field; help people with the right convictions see what the surveys do not tell, and help spread the message to those without the means to see and hear what the rest of the world is saying through the internet.
STICK WITH YOUR PRINCIPLES. VOTE FOR WHO YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE SHOULD WIN, REGARDLESS OF SURVEY OR POPULARITY. I honestly believe that we are all intelligent enough to make the right choice; what needs to happen is to arm the people with the truth.
HINDI masasayang ang boto mo. magkaisa tayo at iboto si gordon.sana panindigan mo ang paniniwala mo at suportahan mo ang tamang kandidato.
ReplyDeleteyou know guys i have a hard time convincing my cousin to vote for GORDON he is for nonoy... i know .. he thinks like nonoy .. abnoy.. but gradually he is changing his mind.. i already convince my family to vote for GORDON AND BAYANI.. AND SOME OF MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASMATES.. I AM HERE IN CANADA AND I CAN NOT VOTE.. I CARE MUCH ABOUT FOR OUR COUNTRY..I BELIEVE THEY WILL WIN THIS ELECTION.

ReplyDeletenung una di ko pa gaanong kakilala si gordon pero nung napanood ko xa sa tv tapos nakita ko yung mga nagawa niya..all i can say is..wow! bagay siyang president kasi yung experience niya di lang sa tourism, maging sa pagnenegosyo (investment,stocks), infrastracture, healthcare,halos lahat.
si Bf naman,si mr. political will.marami na rin xang nagawa.

You know what.. I am very disappointed on you. You have just gave very good traits on the two guys. Then you'll just leave them out because you believe on surveys. Do you have any conviction? Ipaglaban mo naman yung paniniwala mo. You are not worthy to become Filipino citizen.
ReplyDeleteI have just voted and before that a lot of people including my Dad to transfer to Gibo. But I already made up my mind. Usapang lalaki ito eh. I have researched their track records. And Gordon/Bayani stands out.

If you read my last blog, I did endorsed and voted for Gordon and Bayani, for the same reason that you have. Just remember I wrote the blog way back August 2009, when it was highly unlikely the 2 will team-up. Things had changed and I decided to stick with them since they are the most qualified to run the country. Unfortunately they lost. Thank you for reading my blog (s).
