PHILIPPINE POLITICS : Why 2-Party System is better than the current multi-party system.

It's been a long time since our Constituion was changed. Part of the change was the scrapping of the old 2-party system and changing it to Multi-Party system.

Since that time I noticed that every election a lot of confusion and chaos happens among the voting population. With so many Parties participating in the elections and hundreds of candidates in the national level then add add up the other hundred candidates for the local level and also the party-list groups, it will be a miracle if you don't end with a headache after voting.

I believe that the current system, worsens our problem with traditional politicians as most of them became political butterflies. Because of the different parties that are available they can easily switched sides when their political agenda are not being met by the party.

During the time of Marcos, there was only 2 major Party, the Nacionalista and the Liberal. One is the administration party and the other one the opposition. Changing parties are not common.

I think it is time to go back to 2 party system if want a real change to happen in our country. The TRAPOS are running our country to the ground. They are everywhere in the Congress, Senate and in the local gov't. Let's get rid of them. Let's go back to the old system.

  1. this is a good idea, but i think we should revisit the reason why we changed to a multi-party system in the first place -- it was to destroy the oligarchy of old traditional greedy political interests hat are being monopolized by a few. the multi-party system might be a little confusing but this is another price we pay for democracy.

  2. Also... its not true that changing parties is not common. It is actually as common as it is today. Did you know that Marcos is actually a Liberal? He changed parties when it became clear that LP will support then incumbent President Diosdado Macapagal in the 1965 elections. Nagpasurog si Marcos sa NP kaya naging nationalista na siya when he ran for president.

  3. I think what this blogger is saying is that political turncoatism is a lot lot more common nowadays than during the Marcos Era. I agree to this blogger that mas lalong namamayagpag ang mga TRAPO ngayon kesa noong 2 party system pa lang....
